“Thank God for all I missed. `Cause it led me here to this.” These lyrics from Darius Rucker’s 2010 song This are appropriate and meaningful to me just now. All my life I’ve wanted to be a writer. My parents told me writing could be a hobby but I needed to do something else so I wouldn’t starve. I followed their advice, ignored the inner voice saying “write,” had many and varied experiences and jobs, met and worked with all sorts of people, and learned. And all of it combined to provide me with the knowledge, insights, and experience to write Become an Informed Caregiver: What You Should Know When Caring for an Aging Loved One.
As you know, the book was released Oct. 30 on Amazon. I am amazed and overjoyed that my dream has come true. In fact, when people asked me my opinion of the election outcome, my response was, “My book’s on Amazon!”
Now I’m hearing from folks who have bought it that the book is making a difference in their roles as givers of care to aging loved ones. It’s also helping people receiving (or about to receive) care better prepare themselves for their futures. This is it. This is what I’ve always longed for and been called to do. Thank you for your support, encouragement, patience, and feedback. Thank you for making a lifelong dream come true.
